Developed by physical therapist Bonnie Pruden in 1976, myotherapy involves applying focused pressure onto specific points of the body called "trigger points". Trigger points are places in the body that can cause pain to other areas of the body. For instance a trigger point on the hamstring might cause pain in the lower back. These trigger points are dissolved by applying direct pressure to the muscle for several seconds with either the hands, fingers, or elbows. Through several sessions of myotherapy, trigger points are eliminated, restoring full function and health to the body.
Mobile - Structural integration employs soft tissue manipulation with the goal of realigning the body in relationship to the force of gravity. The theory underlying structural integration asserts that often the body's connective tissue is "bound up," thus restricting opposing muscles from working independently of one another. We aim to loosen the restricted connective tissue by using a practice very similar to deep tissue massage. Practitioners typically prescribe a specific sequence of ten sessions lasting between 75 and 90 minutes in order to "unlock" the whole body.
These deep tissue sessions represent the deepest tissue work available; they are a blend of eastern and western techniques. There is generally soreness and discomfort associated with this type of body work, "it hurts so good" is the most common description from our clients. Deep tissue techniques are known for their efficiency and effectiveness for treating muscle dysfunction in the different regions of the body; such as, loss of mobility, chronic pain, or fatigue, as well as muscle injuries (large tears or micro tears of various levels).
Kinesiology
A MECHANICAL EFFICIENCY THERAPY
This is a series of sessions that studies and addresses the physiological, bio-mechanical, and psychological dynamic principles, as well as, mechanisms of movement, and how it all relates to a clients activity (home chores, hobbies, work activities, and fitness/sports training). We feel kinesiology can really benefit a client that is looking to become more active, or just "getting back into action" (once active client, but due to injury, or surgery has become non-active or sedentary). There is a lot of opportunity to be more comfortable, and efficient in your activities, let us help you identify those aspects that ultimately affect your performance, and enjoyment of your active life. The sessions cannot be booked on-line, for scheduling please call John Hunter

Neuromuscular therapy is a system of massage techniques that were developed in the 1930's by Dr. Stanley Lief in England. It uses a holistic approach towards healing, emphasizing and stimulating the body's natural ability to heal itself. Neuromuscular therapy also enhances the function of joints and muscles, and accelerates the overall healing process by facilitating the release of endorphins.

Orthopedic massage is a style of massage therapy focused on treating painful conditions that affect the soft tissues of the body. Because orthopedic massage is designed to treat medical conditions, it requires extensive training. It involves releasing tense muscles, helping to stretch and lengthen tight muscles and tendons, and decompress rigid joints. My goal is to restore full health to the soft tissues of your body, both treating your specific conditions as well as improving your overall well-being.

Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy Massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
Your body stores stress in specific areas called pressure points. Pressure points are small painful pockets of energy that are located along a nerve pathway in your body. These pressure points actually block the nerve energy from flowing through your body, causing a variety of discomforts and illnesses. In our session, I apply pressure to these specific points and dissolve them, releasing any blockages and restoring your nerve pathways to optimal health and function.

Reflexology is a type of bodywork that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet. Unlike other foot massages that intend to mostly relieve tension in the feet themselves, reflexology is a far more in-depth science that aims to harmonize your entire body. According to reflexology, every part of the human body is mapped into your feet. Reflexology treatments have been found to be highly effective for conditions such as allergies, headaches, and depression.
REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is known as zone therapy, because of the practice of working the feet, hands, ears, and head, in zones. In most cases having these zones rubbed (manipulated with various techniques) is very relaxing; it stimulates the nerve endings from all over the body that are located with each zone. The increase of circulation by means of the feet, hands, ears, and head, benefit the organs of the body as well, making a foot massage a sure bet for stress relief. Now in a scenario of injury, reflexology allows options in initiating a healing environment to be established. This is an example of the process of reflexology being a possible option for injury; the site of an injury normally would be a contraindication area for most any body work. Gentle activation of the nerve endings could send signals to the body that the danger is over, and a healing process can begin. If there was an injury to an arm, and neck, those areas might need up to 6 weeks before anybody work could be applied, due to the sensitivity of the damaged soft tissue, and the normal swelling that is invoked in the area. This situation of sensitivity is a prime opportunity for a "good old foot massage", the foot massage could help to promote the relaxing of tissue in the injured area, allowing old fluid out, leaving room for new fluid to move in, all due to the increased circulation by stimulating the zones (nerve endings) of the foot that correlates to the injured area.
Reiki is a Japanese form of energy work that cleanses and balances the energy system in the body. As a result, the body's natural self-healing mechanisms strengthen, helping to establish optimum health. During a session, I work directly with your energy field to remove blockages, detoxify your system, and restore your vital life force energy. Reiki utilizes a gentle laying on of hands to conduct the necessary energy force between us. The benefits of Reiki range from the release of habitual mental/emotional stress to alleviating chronic pain.
REIKI (balancing body's energy, or chi flow) SESSION
Reiki is the most gentle and nurturing technique that we provide. Reiki can involve subtle touch or no touch at all. Reiki is ideal when the physical body, the emotional self, the mental self, and the spiritual self, become overwhelmed. Reiki represents the most pure intent of nurturing from one to another, so pure, it is not officially from the practitioner/ therapist, but from the idea, or vibration of universal love; that is thought, by some to be the foundation of all life in existence. The practitioner merely provides a safe space , and good intent, with the ability to offer some counseling on the possible experience of acknowledging , or receiving , a natural, positive, and, or energetic interaction, of two beings with good intent, that good intent, is to heal (regain balance)!
Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.

Mobile Chair massage is a popular way of relieving stress and releasing tension right in your home or workplace. You receive your massage in a specialized ergonomic chair which I bring to your location. In addition to the usual health benefits of massage, another benefit of chair massage is that it is done over the clothing. With seated massage, you can avoid the discomfort and awkwardness that you may feel in disrobing for a traditional massage. Also, chair massage sessions are usually shorter than traditional massage, making it convenient enough to fit into your busy schedule.

Mobile- Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility.
Mobile- Myofascial massage is a technique used to treat injuries and discomfort, reducing pain and increasing range of motion. Myofascial massage differs from other types of massage in that it targets the fascia - the membrane surrounding muscles - rather than the muscle itself. Since fascia completely encases every muscle in the body, imbalances in the fascia can have serious effects on your range of motion and comfort level. While other forms of massage can overlook the fascia, myofascial massage focuses specifically on releasing tension in this important membrane.
Mobile - Movement education uses a custom-tailored approach to improving your body awareness and movement skills. Combining problem-solving, guided-discovery, and exploratory methods, this practice inevitably leads to a stronger connection between the mind and body, creating a more natural and graceful experience of movement and interaction with other people.

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.
Mobile - Infant Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically to promote the healthy development of your infant. Caring human touch is crucial for a healthy thriving baby, and the benefits of massaging your infant are potent and numerous. For example, many infants show improved growth and development of the brain and nervous system. Infant massage has also been shown to improve the quality of a baby's sleep, as well as strengthening their immune system.
Mobile- Geriatric massage is a form of massage designed to meet the specific needs of the elderly. It helps to improve blood circulation, relieve pain, and also increase range of motion. If you are elderly, geriatric massage can help you maintain and improve your overall health, as well as regain certain physical functions that have been reduced due to aging. In addition, since the elderly don't typically receive enough physical touch, this massage can also help alleviate symptoms of loneliness or depression.
Mobile - Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a "life force", and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. I work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. And once your energy field has been restored to full health, your body will follow.
BODY, MIND, and SPIRIT, RE-CONNECTION THERAPY
Re-connection therapy is designed to help with the transitions of our "personal environment" (the different expressions of our- self, that makes us unique conscious beings). There are many aspects to our "personal environment," such as the mental, physical, emotional, and the spiritual. There is more transition in our "personal environment" happening now, then ever before; there has always been a lot change, but until now, it was not able to be acknowledged at the speed it is today. This quickened transition phase of "personal environment" can simply leave us overwhelmed. There are organizations that are taking advantage of the people at this time; they look at it as an opportunity to make financial gain out of the confusion, and complacency, of the overwhelmed. A good example of a group taking advantage of people, as they go through so much change, so fast, is the pharmaceutical companies. Can we blame the pharmaceutical companies? Well, we could blame them, being a victim is an option, that is a choice, for each individual to make, it is an option that does not support a "healing environment" or homeostasis (the process by which a living thing keeps the conditions inside it the same despite any changes in the conditions around it), or a functional "personal environment". What we can do is make sure that we are in "touch with ourselves"(to claim responsibility for one self) to a point, that allows us to not be a victim of others agendas; because, that might lead us a stray from our own path, or truth (one’s purpose in life). The bottom line, and this is a big bottom line, we cannot let ourselves become a victim. To become a victim (to give your freedom of self away to someone or something), is the root of all dysfunction, and imbalance of the "personal environment", this can be hard to handle, but, so is the concept that we are responsible for our-self, and the health of the "personal environment". A healing environment ( homeostasis) can be self sustained once we have identified the ways we are attaching to, being a victim, instead of attaching, to an "empowering role" (the balance of self, that is gained by claiming responsibility for our-self ); Once we acknowledge the choice of the victim role, or, the empowerment role, that we have made for our-self, we can then make our decision to change that role, to the best possibility that supports our truth, or path, and move on. This is something we need help doing at times, and that it is more than "OK" to need help. Helping others is something that we are all made to do, that is, to help each other to identify the trials, and tribulations, of what it is like to be a responsible, positive, and balanced human being.
The sessions represented here can be very relaxing, they involve focused deep breathing, where a REM like state can be experienced; they are emotionally focused, mentally activating, and physically healing: it’s about claiming responsibility emotionally, claiming responsibility mentally, claiming responsibility spiritually, claiming responsibility consciously, and you might have guessed, to claim responsibility for yourself!!!
The healing environment needs to be acknowledged, empowered, supported, and sustained, this is something that I feel we are here on earth to do, so let’s help each-other to do it!!
Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to aid with the flushing and removal of toxins that will have been released from the deep tissue during the session.

Mobile - Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, I apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.

Mobile - Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalancing the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.
